Professional Experience E.K. (Ted) Weir joined McMillan following his call to the Bar of Ontario in 1965. From that time until 1993 he was an associate/partner/senior partner of the firm practising corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on financial services. He represented financial institutions and other companies and organizations on many major financing, corporate restructuring, regulatory and other corporate matters. He acted as an advisor to the federal government on financial sector reform in 1987 and was a frequent speaker at professional conferences on the financial services industry.

In 1993, Mr. Weir joined Royal Bank of Canada as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. He served in that position until his retirement from the Bank on January 1, 2001. Following this retirement, he rejoined McMillan as Counsel.

Mr. Weir is recommended as a leading practitioner in banking and financial services in The Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory, Global Counsel 3000 and The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.
