Professional Experience Richard is an associate in the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. He maintains a broad civil and commercial litigation practice with experience in complex contractual litigation, product liability disputes, class actions, franchise litigation and competition-related issues. Richard also regularly provides strategic advice on a wide variety of compliance and regulatory matters.

Richard joined McMillan as an associate in 2010, after summering and articling with the firm. During his articles he participated in a secondment to the legal department of the Royal Bank of Canada, where he drafted complex financial agreements and assisted with an assortment of financial services matters.

Richard completed his Bachelor of Commerce and earned his JD at Queen's University. During law school he was selected to participate in three competitive advocacy competitions, and in 2008 coached his team to a factum writing prize in the Wilson Constitutional Law Moot. Richard has also been published in the National Banking Law Review, the Canadian Privacy Law Review, Internet and E-Commerce Law in Canada, the International Bar Association's North American Regional Forum Newsletter, the American Bar Association's Commercial Litigation Newsletter, the Commercial Times, and the Defense Research Institute's For the Defense.
