Professional Experience Philipp acts for a wide variety of owners, developers, managers and investors in a broad range of transactional matters involving commercial real estate and related businesses. Philipp's practice regularly includes acquisitions and divestitures both of discrete assets and portfolios of assets, development work in respect of complex projects, land assembly, financing and leasing matters. Philipp is frequently called upon to elaborate tailored business structures with respect to the holding or operation of real property and other projects, often on behalf of foreign investors, aimed at achieving tax efficiency, preserving flexibility in financing and facilitating the particular business objectives of the client. More recently, Philipp has acquired significant experience in the areas of public-private partnerships and social infrastructure.   • having acted for the developer in respect of the development, financing, leasing and subsequent sale of Bell Canada's 860,000 square foot corporate headquarters on Nuns' Island, Quebec
  • having acted for the developerd co-venturer in the structuring and capitalizing of a 70-storey Toronto condominium development project
  • having acted for the facilities manager in the winning consortium for the development and management of the "Centre de Recherche du Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal" (CRCHUM)
  • having acted for a member of one of the consortia bidding to develop and manage the "Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal" (CHUM)
  • having acted on behalf of the acquirers of 2020 University, Montreal, Quebec from SITQ, financing and subsequent sale of same;
  • having acted on behalf of the purchasers, and subsequently, vendors of the Cité du Multimédia, a one million square foot office complex in the City of Montreal, Quebec;  
  • having acted on behalf of a bidder for the assets of the Marché Central Metropolitain in Montreal, Quebec;
  • having acted for La Senza Corporation in its divestiture of its Suzy Shier and anne.x retail chains;
  • having acted for the acquirers of Les Ailes de la Mode retail chain of stores;  
  • having acted for the owners of Cité Industrielle Lasalle in the context of a refinancing of a major industrial complex in Lasalle, Quebec;
  • having acted for First Canadian Title in the development of title insurance policies covering interests held in co-op buildings;
  • having acted as special counsel to certain shareholders in connection with the sale of Tribal Sportwear Inc. to Kilmer Capital Partners;
  • having advised high end-residential developers in the context of planned communities in St-Sauveur and Ste-Agathe;
  • having advised Development Économique Canada in connection with the constitution of the Chantier de l'Économie Sociale Trust and contributions of Industry Canada with respect to the funding thereof.
