Professional Experience
Paul is a senior partner in the Finance Group and a member of the firm's Board of Partners.
Paul has extensive experience in banking, finance, debt restructuring and real estate. He routinely counsels and represents major financial institutions on the structuring and implementation of domestic and cross border financing transactions. Paul's work experience encompasses all areas of debt financing, including syndicated loans, real estate based lending, asset based lending, project finance, receivables financing, subordinate debt financing and debtor in possession financing. He regularly advises and acts for major Canadian and foreign financial institutions on syndicated, club and bilateral debt financings including construction loans for residential, commercial and industrial real estate projects. He has also acted for financial institutions and other entities in the development of standard loan and security documentation and in loan portfolio acquisitions and divestitures.

- Leading a $500,000,000 senior syndicated credit facility and concurrent aggregate $150,000,000 capital call and bridge loan facilities to fund the acquisition of a $2 billion real estate portfolio
- Leading a $400,000,000 senior syndicated credit facility and related acquisition financing
- Leading a $425,000,000 senior syndicated construction loan facility for a real estate investment trust
- Leading a $310,000,000 senior syndicated insured construction loan financing for a condominium hotel project
- Leading a $125,000,000 senior syndicated debt financing of a financial services income trust ranking equally with a $175,000,000 public debt issue
- Leading a $250,000,000 senior syndicated cross border debt financing of a public company and its US subsidiary
- Leading a $120,000,000 senior syndicated working capital and acquisition financing credit facility
- A $90,000,000 asset based loan financing in conjunction with a concurrent $70,000,000 second lien loan
- Leading a $750,000,000 senior syndicated debt financing for a takeover bid for a publicly traded real estate investment trust
