Professional Experience Karen is a partner in the Pensions and Employee Compensation Group of McMillan LLP. She works with a wide variety of clients including plan sponsors, pension committees, boards of trustees, private equity investors, creditors, borrowers, monitors and trustees in bankruptcy. She provides advice on regulatory compliance requirements and options and best practices for establishing and administering registered and unregistered pension and benefit arrangements, and the funding and investment of pension assets. Karen also provides strategic pension and benefits advice in corporate reorganizations and transactions, particularly in relation to pension funding issues on the sale of distressed assets. She advocates for client interests with pension regulators, administrative boards and tribunals. She is frequent speaker on ongoing and emerging issues affecting the legal status of pension and benefit plans. publications and presentations
