Professional Experience Eloïse Gratton is a leading expert in new media and privacy issues and is Counsel to the firm for information technology issues while pursuing a PhD degree at University of Montreal and Université de Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). She also acts as privacy officer for our Montreal office. She was previously partner at McMillan (Corporate Law group) which she joined in 2002. Prior to joining the firm, she acted as Director of Corporate & Legal Affairs for a wireless technology company.

Eloïse has published numerous articles on technology law issues which frequently appear in local publications such as the Canadian Privacy Law Review (Butterworths), The Lawyers Weekly (Lexis Nexis), the Canadian Journal of Law and Technology (CCH), and international ones such as the Computer Law Review & Technology Journal and the Journal of Internet Law (Aspen). In addition, she is the author of the textbook Internet and Wireless Privacy: Legal Guide to Global Business Practices (CCH) which was quoted by the Supreme Court of Canada in the Tariff 22 decision. She also contributed to the upcoming 2009 edition of Privacy In The Workplace (CCH) with a chapter on website and online privacy and to the 2006 and 2008 editions of the U.S. World Online Business Law (Oceana), with chapters on unsolicited commercial emails. She frequently acts as guest columnist for the Montreal Gazette for articles pertaining to IT law and privacy matters. She is often interviewed in the news as an IT law and new media expert (Radio-Canada, CTV, TVA, V, CBC, Les Affaires, National Post, Le Devoir, Journal de Montreal, etc.)

Éloïse serves as a board member for the Canadian IT Law Association. She teaches e-commerce law at the masters program in e-commerce offered by the University of Montreal and the HEC since 2009.
