Professional Experience
Darryl practises in all areas of labour and employment law at both the federal and provincial level. He advises and represents clients with respect to employment terminations, hiring, wrongful dismissal, unjust dismissal, employment standards, employment contracts, employment policies, human rights, grievance arbitrations, collective agreements, workers' compensation, disability policies, occupational health and safety issues, and Canada Labour Code complaints.
Darryl also has extensive experience advising employers in the labour and employment implications of corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, workforce reductions, executive hiring and compensation arrangements and other areas of labour and employment law. He has served clients in a wide variety of industries and contexts, including: service, retail, wholesale, pharmaceuticals, medical, technology, publishing, banking, finance, securities, insurance, automotive, First Nations and others.

- Acted for Walt Disney in its acquisition of Club Penguin
- Acted for Calloway Real Estate Investment Trust in its acquisition of Ontario Shopping Centres
- Acted for RBC Life Insurance Company in the purchase of the life, health, accident and sickness insurance business of Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company
- Advised The Top-Flite Golf Company and Top-Flite Canada Inc. in the sale of their assets to Callaway Golf Company
- Represented The Timken Company on its acquisition from Ingersoll-Rand Company Limited of the Torrington Company
- Acted for Bank One Canada in the sale of its Canadian retail Visa credit and business to Royal Bank of Canada
- Advised Royal Bank of Canada in the sale of its corporate and purchasing Visa card business to US Bancorp
- Advised Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of Canada and Western Assurance Company in their purchase of the Canadian insurance business of Lumbermen's Mutual Casualty Company (Kemper Canada)
- Acted for Clariant in Canada in its sale to Chantrade Logistics, Inc. of its North American sodium hydrosulphite operations
- Acted for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Canada Inc. in its sale of its pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Whitby, Ontario to Patheon Inc.
- Acted for Catterton & Partners and Dough Co. in their purchase of the Canadian bakery business of Parmalat Dairy & Bakery Inc.
