Professional Activities
Claire E. Morton is an associate in the firm's Employment and Labour Relations Group in the Vancouver office. Her practice focuses on all matters relating to employment, labour and human rights claims.
Claire acts for a wide variety of clients in the private and public sectors. She assists clients in all aspects of employment and labour law, including wrongful dismissal actions, accommodation issues, workplace harassment, drafting employment agreements and providing advice regarding the administration of collective agreements.
Claire has represented clients before a number of judicial and administrative bodies, including the British Columbia Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, Provincial Court, Labour Relations Board and Human Rights Tribunal. Trained in mediation, Claire has also acted as a mediator in the Provincial Court of British Columbia.
Claire has written numerous articles on labour relations and employment law. She is currently on the Executive of the CBA (BC Branch) Employment Law subsection and teaches Labour Relations at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Representative Transactions
- Successfully represented beneficiaries of an estate in the British Columbia Court of Appeal, 2010.
- IMS Marine Surveyors Ltd.; IMS Analytical Services Ltd., and Jostein Hoddevik. Successfully defended two (2) companies and an individual employer in an eleven (11) day Supreme Court trial as sole counsel against claims for damages brought by a professional chemist for wrongful dismissal; payment of performance bonuses; payment of the balance of ten (10) years base salary; damages for mental distress; punitive damages; Wallace damages; aggravated damages; special damages; and costs, 2009.
