Professional Activities 

Christine Man joined the firm in 2006 and is a partner in the McMillan Tax Group at the firm's Vancouver office. She advises on all aspects of corporate and individual income tax and commodity tax matters. Her practice focuses on corporate structuring and reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, corporate financing, and cross-border and international transactions.

Christine's practice encompasses a broad range of tax matters. She has experience with the establishment of domestic and foreign trusts, the structuring and implementation of estate plans, and submissions to the Canada Revenue Agency under the Voluntary Disclosure Program. Christine also represents clients in resolving disputes with the British Columbia Ministry of Small Business and Revenue and the Canada Revenue Agency.

Christine has completed all three parts of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountant's In-Depth Tax Course. In 2008, Christine attended the Canadian Bar Association's Tax Law for Lawyers Conference. At Osgoode Hall Law School, Christine was the recipient of the McMillan Binch Award for Academic Excellence in 2004.

Christine has been involved in the following representative work:

  • Acted for Teck Resources in the completion of a public offering in the United States of US$2 billion in aggregate principal amount of new senior unsecured notes, July 2011.
  • Acted for Primero Mining Corp. in its merger with Northgate Minerals Corp. creating a $1.2 billion gold producer, July 2011.
  • Acted for Richfield Ventures Corp. on its acquisition by New Gold Inc. by way of a plan of arrangement, April 2011.
  • Acted for Cengea Solutions Inc. in its acquisition by Trimble Navigation Limited, September 2010.
  • Acted for Teck Resources Limited in the completion of a private placement offering in the United States and Canada of US$4.225 billion in aggregate principal amount of senior secured notes, May 2009.
  • Advised PRC–based businesses in achieving tax-efficient Canada/PRC business structures, 2009 – 2011.
  • Acted for CML HealthCare Inc. in its acquisition of Laurel Radiology Inc. (with two medical imaging clinics located in Vancouver) April, 2008.
  • Acted for Kraft Canada Inc. when it completed the sale of its Post cereal brand assets to a subsidiary of Ralcorp Holdings, Inc., August 2008.
  • Acted for West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd in its acquisition of U.S. lumber business, March 2007.
  • Acted for Great Canadian Gaming Corp. to secure a C$200 million revolving credit facility and a US$170 million term loan and to issue US$170 million senior subordinated notes for gross proceeds of C$600 million, January 2007.
  • Assisted Sierra Systems Group Inc. in its acquisition by Golden Gate Capital, January 2007.
  • Acted for Continental Minerals Corporation in its merger with Great China Mining, December 2006
