Alumni Madam Justice Sarah Pepall and Madam Justice Alexandra Hoy appointed to the Court of Appeal for Ontario

McMillan congratulates alumni, the Honourable Madam Justice Sarah E. Pepall and the Honourable Madam Justice Alexandra H. Hoy on their recent appointments to the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

The Honourable Madam Justice Alexandra H. Hoy is an alumnus of Lang Michener. She practiced in the Toronto office of Lang Michener for about 20 years and was a senior partner in, and chair of, the business law group prior to her appointment to the bench as a Superior Court judge in 2002.  Madam Justice Hoy is known especially for her work on the Commercial List, but has also presided over some family and criminal matters, spent some time as one of four Ontario judges designated to hear class action matters, and sat on the Divisional Court.

The Honourable Madam Justice Sarah E. Pepall is a alumnus of McMillan. She joined McMillan as a litigation associate in 1981, enjoyed a stellar career as a commercial litigation partner and served as the firm's managing partner from 1993  to 1998. After 18 years at the firm, she accepted a position as a Justice of the Superior Court of Ontario. Madam Justice Pepall acted as the head of the Commercial List for four and a half years and she was President of the Ontario Superior Court Judges Association for a two-year term.
